Used Helmet?
I bought a few that were used, and havent had any problems. +1 on inspection thought. Even look for small chips on top to make sure it hasnt been dropped, but usually there isnt a problem. Its them sameas buying a new on and you wearing it and then still wearing it in 4months isnt it?!?!?!? Wouldnt you wear the same helmet 4 months later. Just make sure you know what you are getting.
Helmet is the one thing I wouldn't buy used, because you don't know its history. A helmet works by dispersing the energy of an impact through the inner liner, rather than having that energy transmitted to your skull. But soaking up all that energy weakens the structure of the inner liner, making it unable to absorb more energy in a subsequent collision. Basically a helmet is a sacrificial device. If you hit your head in a crash, give thanks that you're alive and not on a respirator, and buy a new helmet.
Unless you are 100% certain the helmet has never been dropped or banged up, you shouldn't be relying on it to protect your brain.
Unless you are 100% certain the helmet has never been dropped or banged up, you shouldn't be relying on it to protect your brain.
