Default Icon Field Armor Boots

Do you use them? How do you like them? Any problems with shifting that can't be solved with repeated use? I'm looking for some safer street boots and these are in my price range. I do hear about them being thick and lacking feel for the shifter, but I'd be willing to compromise for additional protection. I appreciate any imput you may have.

I got em'... takes it does a bit of time getting used to but afterwards not so bad. At first I adjusted my shifter down more so I would shift with the ledge of my sole but ended up bringing it back up again.Initially, you have to really consciously put your toe under your lever to shift, but once you get used to it no big deal. It feels stiff to some, but to me "stiff" would be my snowboarding boots. This stiff is a good snugg, but all is adjustable w/ the straps and lacing.

Things I like about the boot:
-Really nice protection for your heal and achilles tendon
-overall snugg and support is great
-The zipper makes them a snap to get off
-Great ankle support

Things I don't like:
-Thick sole (I guess its that way for a reason, right?)
-Yellow writing (I'm going to sharpie it black, lol)

I purchased these boots for the same reason you are looking at them. $$$ I couldn't afford the nicer boots like the A*, SIDI, Oxtar, etc. but really wanted better protection that regular boots have to offer.Overall I am happy I purchased these. They are way cheaper than others but offer the same amount of protection. When I get my track gear I will buy nicer boots and wear these in the streets and the other on track. It crazy, I see alot of riders w/ the proper jackets, gloves, etc. but they wear tennis shoes or the newest jordans. I've seen too many pics and stories of people getting into accidents where better boots would have saved their ankle and foot, but instead their foot is destroyed.

Oh, and btw - Look on fleabay for them. I got mine of ebay brand new w/out box for 60 bucks! You can't beat that price w/ a regular pair of shoes! Also, buy about a 1/2 size bigger. I wear a 10 and bought a 10 1/2 and they fit perfect.

I appreciate your imput. You make some good points and I'll be sure to buy a half size larger.

i have these boots also and love em. Little more clunky than some of the Sidis and such, but they offer awesome protection. You'll get used to the obstructed shifting, its not that bad. Also, I didnt buy a half size large and mine fit me fine, i guess its a matter of opinion

I'm pretty sure the FA boots are not water proof. I'll probably need some covers for them.
