How safe is mesh?
I have a Joe Rocket mesh/leather jacket that has mesh for most part of the jacket with perforated leather for the shoulders and outer half of the arms. I feel it has the best of both worlds. It is very cool and ventilated while having the extra protection of leather where it is most likely to need the most. Plus it makes for a pretty good looking jacket. All mesh jackets should be made this way, imo.
usually in the city...when you crash, there's a car parked over you or you under under a car...
the mesh will then melt to your skin...leather just gets hot.
yes, mesh is better than nothing...but if you're going to protect yourself, do it right.

In nearly 40 years of riding, I've gone down in leathers and gone down in textile and mesh. The leathers were still good for another day...the textile and mesh were shredded (but they did their job). I think of the mesh like a helmet - one strike and they've done their job, time for a new one.

i had a nitro jacket it was mesh and textile. the mesh was in the parts to let air get through. it was cool in the summer heat and when i hit the pavement doing like 40 i had only slight scrapes on my 1 arm. altough i was tumbling and flipping not sliding the entire time. costed like 110 bucks pretty happy with what it did
