Default Gear sizing?

So, I'm confused...I'm not the biggest guy, I'm super skinny actually. I've NEVER had problems buying jackets for sports...but motorcycle gear seems to be different. I want to be as safe as I can on the road, so I want to get some good gear...but it't hard so far.

I've looked into Alpinestars, and on their site I've looked at the size guide...I have a 35'' chest, and a 30'' waist. But when I look on Alpinestars site the smallest stuff I can find is size "46" which from their guide means a 46 inch chest I think??

Am I reading this wrong? I can't find any gear that looks like it would fit me...any help would be great, thanks!

W/ motorcycle gear, you really need to try it on for sizing. Like clothing, one company's interpretation of sizing will be dif from the next.

As for Alpinestars gear, it tends to fit more closely, almost tailor fit to some degree. Whereas, Icon jackets tend to fit looser or you could say are fuller-cut. BTW, A* does have sized smaller than 46. I wear a 42 A* jacket.

While you want your gear to fit, you may want it tighter or looser, depending on your preferences. +1 sizing is generally how street riders like it. Track riders generally fit suits close.

the 46 is probalby some euro spec, it is not the chest size, somehow on some jackets that number is 10+ the chest size.

Alpinestars Drift Leather Jacket Black from SportbikeTrackGear.com
^look at the dropdown for selecting your size.

if you are super skinny i would recommend a brand that offers a more 'euro' cut. not sure how a* fits

2.54 cm = 1 inch
