if you are dragging knees (or just pushing it that hard) YOU WANT THE LEATHER TOO!!
Try looking on place like ironpony.con n newenough.com. Newenough had Teknic Chicane leather pants on clearance for $139. And there are plenty of others for sub $200. But if you dont want to dish out for the gear, for gods sake dont be pushing.

One of my buddies who went on to race ama...when he was younger and just starting out he strapped pop cans to his knees and was dragging with them....
Now thats hilarious but I guess it was all in his progression to the AMA big show!! LOL!

First, dragging a knee is not something you should aspire to. If you're on the track and you're riding fast, it will eventually happen. It should be a bit of a surprise when it first does. If you're having to work at it, it shouldn't be happening. And once it does happen, it's just a handy gauge of lean angle. The dragger just skims the surface (unless you're going down), so you want something low-friction with good wear characteristics.
I agree with the previous poster who said, if you need draggers, you need leather (and armor). And I'll add: You really don't want to be doing this on public roads. It's really, really dumb. Eventually, it'll catch up with you. (Plus, it's a LOT more fun on a track!)
