Default Face shield Question

I was looking for a diffrent face shield other then the clear one. I have a Shoei RF-1000 helmet. A friend told me you don't have any problems seeing out of the mirror shield at night because its just a lense cover. The smoke ones you do have aproblem seeing out of at night because they are actually a dark shieldcompared tojust a lense cover like the mirror shields. Is this true? I didn't want to be changing out my shields all the time depending if its night or day out.

Thanks
Chris

Unless they have changed... I used to have a Mirrored, (Chromed), shield for my older Shoei and it was too dark for riding at night. I have the RF1000 and have both clear and tinted. I would never ride with anything but the Clear one for nights. Being able to see everything is a must for riding when it's dark. The shields are so easy to change on the Shoei quick release system. I use both.

I'd suggest clear. I like riding with a clear shield. If it is sunny, I wear sunglasses underneight. Mainly because when cruising at around 40 or so, I can open the sheidl (get wind on the face) and still have eye protection.

I have a mirrored on my Scorpion....same deal here, I can ride with it at night if I MUST, but I avoid it as much as I can. If I am going out for long ride, I put my clear sheild someplace so I can swap it out.
