Breaking in new boots !!
We went shopping today and got new riding boots .
A nice feeling to get new gear , but boots are a bugger because you have to buy them relatively tight so they stretch to fit snug and comfy..
We have been wearing them in around the house today trying to soften up the leather and I was wondering if any of you guys had any secrets as to how to run in new tight boots quickly
I usually just wear them as much as I can to get them, under control ... but the pain the pain !! well not pain , but they are bloody uncomfortable for a while doing it this way ..
I don't ride in new boots till they are loosened up because feeling the brakes and gear shifter can be a hit and miss thing while they feel like concrete

not really sure how to brake em in besides wearing them around, maybe a leather softener? used that on new baseball gloves when i was playing....
on a side note, i would have thought like you when i bought my boots because i bought them in a comfortable size and now there a little big since they broke in

Yer , I used to rub bees wax into my new dirt bike boots years ago , but all new road boot these days are specially water proofed and recommend that nothing else be put on them :-(
After a day wearing them around they are much better and are starting to feel comfy....
It is a bugger if you buy them too big and after a few days they become a little loose, although 2 pairs of socks will fix that if you are in a cold climate... As our weather is not that cold , 2 pairs of socks can be a bit too warm ...

well the way i always break-in my new boots is a pair of these wooden things that i got with a pair of dress shoes that are adjustable in the lenght an width. not sure what they are called but since i hate wearing monkey suits i decided to give them a new home in my Sidi's. they work great an i have seen them at several different shoe stores. but ill wear all my new boots for about an hour or so to get the leather warm an then throw them bad boys in there an presto snug but comfortable

Wish I'd bought my boots more snug. I usually wear 2 pair socks. But I wear a thinner sock next to my skin with a thicker outer sock in the summer. Helps wick away moisture if the sock is of the wicking type.
