Default CBR300R engine dies when clutch let out

I bought a 2015 CBR300R the other month and have had no issues until now. The other day during a drive, I stopped at a red light. In first gear, I let the clutch out to get going and the engine died immediately. I assumed I just stalled, and tried a few more time with higher revs until I realised there was an issue with the bike. I've heard that this could be a broken kickstand sensor, but the bike starts up fine in first gear with the stand up, but not with it down. This would imply that the sensor is fine as it wouldn't start if it were broken. I've also heard this could be the clutch sensor, but I'm not sure how this would affect getting it in gear.

Any help on fixing this would be appreciated,
Thanks
