Default Yamaha XS400 project bike

Last weekend I picked up this old XS400. In contrast to the Streetfighters & Cafe type bikes I tent to resro-mod, I plan to get out of my comfort zone on this one.

I don't plan on using much more than the motor and wiring harness and maybe any parts that can me modded

No work started yet, still collecting parts. My total buget on the build is $500. Time will tell if I make it.
I got the fuel tank this weekend, $25 in a local basement used parts shop, $375 left in the budget....

After fighting with my pick up for a few days, I was able to start tearing down, if not much else.

I have 4 sets of forks to chose from right now. Still figuring what I'll end up using for forks and front wheel.

To save me a ton of paper work, I'm gonna use this this VIN off a old Kaw that the wife blew up.
