I ride one handed when cruising around and traffic conditions permit it, I do the arm across the tank thing too.

Not to be a sticker in anyones side but I am curious. When your lady friends ride with you where do they hold, or put their hands that they are pushing you over the bars when braking? My ex rode with me all the time and i never had this problem. She would have her arms around my side and have her hands resting on my tank, thumbs toward/on the top and fingers "gripping" the sides. I have an F2 and she said that was the easiest and most comfortable for her and the way the tank is shaped it almost acted like a "handle". When she was on the back i barely noticed her there when braking, carving the curves, all of that, it was like she was just another 140LB piece of the bike. Perhaps i was lucky in that department of a passenger.

She wouldnt get upset about me taking my hands off the bars, heck on long straight cruises she wouldn't hold onto any thing more than my hand. She just kinda hung out and enjoyed the road.

I ride one handed when on the open highway, but both hands whenever I'm in traffic.

when in traffic its two handed, so when arms get sore i just lean foward a bit and relax my arms, worth it

when im racing my mate in his corsa, id no hand to give him the fingers

long journeys is usually 1 handed, but instantly 2 when i see a hazard.

Same as most... 2 hands while turning or <20 or >70 mph. One handed on long straights to give myself a break. It also helps me sit more upright to give my back a break too.

I go one handed with my left hand some times, just reach across my bike. It saves my fingers from falling asleep on long trips. But on straights I'll drop it if the speeds don't change (cruising, or traffic)

Default switch handed?

I usually go one-handed if I'm on a stretch of road and want to relax more. My free hand is either on my knee or the tank. I have no problem avoiding potholes one-handed as long as I see them ahead of time. I always go back to 2 when approaching intersections or turns. I've never carried a passenger though. Here's another take on it: My boyfriend will switch hands on the throttle for really long trips, as in 16+ hours straight. I can't say I'll ever try that myself (16 hour trips OR switching hands), but I'm curious to know if anyone else has.

I take me left hand off quite often when it is safe. Cruising the highway or when slow traffic is in front of me on the twisites. I also take my hands off in the cold to warm them up. I removed my back seat and put a seatcowl on so I cant take passangers they are no fun anyway, slow me way down.

i usually do the hand across the tank thing also. It seems to be a lot more comfortable for me. Apparently scoliosis and motorcycles dont sit well together.

i ride one handed all the time. i ride very safe and only rest my hand in decent riding conditions...but it is nice to give the clutch hand a rest.

man...if my passenger ever had a problem with that, they would turn from passenger to pedestrian pretty quickly.
