Default VFR help needed

One of the guys i ride with has an 02 vfr with 32k on the odo..says it was running great with the exception of a weak battery.. he went to put a new battery in for a ride and cant get it to start anymore..bike turns over with good plugs and good spark.. checked all the usual components with no luck..dont know if he messed something up with the battery install (hes not very nechanically inclined) maybe a fuse but just stumped why it cranks with good spark and no F1 lights.. any help with this would be appreciated.. may check the fuel filter..next

and because i know we all like pics i added one
