Looks factory made to me. I like it a lot. If I were to change anything at all, I would route the braided hose underneath the frame. But it looks like there is quite a bit of stuff already taking place in that area so it might not be possible.

That particular spot is a bit of a problem area as there is so much stuff ram-packed into such a confined space that I have not been able to clean the area as much as I hoped. There is the TPS, all the wires coming up from the engine, as well as the throttle cables, rammed into a space approx 1cm wide at the side of the airbox. The blue-purple coolant hose coming from the rad joins the braided hose with a 90 deegree elbow connector just behind the frame pipe where it enters the loop that the pipes make. And when it's routed there IMO it looks more plausible that it could actually be on it's way to the throttle body rather than to the radiator

That was my first thought, too. I bet you some people will assume it is nitrous.

That is a good point. I can see that. I retract my previous comment. :-)
I'm just too **** retentive, about things too often.

Default The Beast has awaken!

I was meaning to refrain from attempting the first start until the fairings arrive but then I started thinking that there ALWAYS are some last minor kinks to be ironerd out that only reveal themselves after the bike has been started first so I decided to go fetch some gas from the station, and a good thing that I did cause the alternator belt of my Clio decided to snap on the way. A good thing because now I can go buy a new one from the city tomorrow, an inconvenience but imagine if it would have done it on my way to work monday morning! So i took one of the windscreen washer fluid jugs I always store for these kind of situations and cut away the top and part of the side to mount the fuel pump into the jug. I then connected the fuel lines and the electric plug, pushed the bike out, poured some gas into the "tank", let it prime a few times and pushed the starter button. I still remember the bike being a b*tch to get started the first time I tried it, but to my amazement it roared to life after just a few seconds of starting! And what a roar it has!

The engine temp seemed to come up fairly quickly. I tried bleeding the system from the aeration screw at the top of the radiator and managed to get some air out but it probly still needs another go after everything is settled. The fan seems to be working, but there are a few little issues still to be tackeld, and all of them are exactly the ones that I anticipated them to be:

The tachometer does not work. The needle vibrates a little but it does not start rising. The funny thing is that when I give the bike revs the speedometer is rising! So either I have made a mistake in the wires or I need to get the tach data from somewhere else, It is currently coming from the ECU via the original wire but it seems I have to rob it straight from the sensor. The speedometer is working when I rotate the front wheel on a stand so I suspect the wiring is correct otherwise.

The exhaust is loud. Very loud. Even the boy decided he will come no closer to the bike than the corner of my car so a baffle or a DB-killer as it is called here is to be made.

The exhaust was smoking some at first, and even shot out a few puffs of black smoke and a few flames aswell when I gave the bike revs but I`m not too worried about that as the original fuel mapping is set very rich and there might be some residual rubbing compound and lye inside the exhaust so if it still does that after the first test run I`ll look into that. But what is to be tackled is the header-midpipe connection as it is leaking a little, which also was to be expected thanks to the pervert 53mm pipe that the header collector is made out of. The closest I could find was 51mm/2" so there is a little gap, proly just gonna throw some exhaust glue between there and let the heat seal it.

So, back to the drawing board then. Gotta tackle the tach issue before the fairings arrive from the painter. I emailed him today and he said he will try to get them ready by sunday but is very busy so cannot promise it yet.

If you figure this out let me know too.
I noticed same thing. I ofcourse did not pay that much detail attention on it cause I was (ashamed) to say too eager to get on the road.
But I did notice that the tachometer was bonkers. It started showing speed after 4 km s on first ride. If it would of still not worked I wouldnt of gone further from petrol station.
And all the lights were on. Even the oil light. I did check that oil levels and everything is alright before a try. The petrol light was also burning. And suprisingly on petrol station I managed to push only 7 litres into tank. It did not read speed. But readed rpms.

And after I got the tank full everything started working like a clock work.
And next day I went for another ride then it played working and not working just about 10 minutes.
I just reconed since the bike has been on a stand still not in use. That it just takes its time. Dunno. But other than that it worked fine. In the sence all lights and stuff started working quite quickly after it had rided a bit and ran warm. Dunno if it is normal for Daytona. Just got curious. But as I said I am waiting for better days to try and test to be sure in these things.

But mate gongrats!!!!

A-haa so that directs my suspicions on the multipin connectors on the ECU since my harness has gone through pretty extensive modifications and still we have the same problem. One electric wiz at the Triumph forum instructed me to fit a noise suppressor resistor between the tach signal and 12v but gonna put some grease on the ECU plugs before that and will report back if it did something, since with your miles you should not have any problems of that manner. Definitely sounds like an bad contact somewhere.

The oil and petrol lights on your gauge were probly burning since the gauge thought the bike is not running. Gonna go through some connectors to see if I can find a faulty one cause it definitely sounds like a leak somewhere.

Gonna go make the baffle to the muffler once the boy wakes up, already got a piece of pipe marked up ready waiting in the vice to get cut up and welded together. Probly some pics coming later today.

Doing some last minute finalising things while waiting for the fairings to arrive.

I did some modifications to the tail light since the mounting method has been changed from the original idea. It will be mounted directly to the tail fairing instead of the subframe to ease the removal of the fairing, hence the long metal part between the vice jaws, I will be using that to get enough surface to glue the light inside the fairing as I do not want any visible rivet or screw heads in the finished paint. I also gave the bike a proper wash outside today. Got most of the crud out but porpably still need another go with a stronger detergent later.

I got the new brake fluid reservoir mounted and managed to bleed the brakes after a few tries, the brakes now stop the bike from walking speed onto a die if I so much than reach for the lever so gotta do a few test runs with it before grabbing a handful as I do not fancy learing to fly, not at least if it involves being launched from the bike...

So now I got only one more issue to tackle, and that is with the left side rearset. There are aluminum washers inside the shift lever bearing assembly that is being held together with the same bolt that keeps the footpeg in place. In order to secure teh footpeg I`ve had to torque the bolt down pretty hard which has been too much for the aluminum washer, which has crushed allowing the bolt to touch the inside of the shift lever wedging it in place, so I gotta go buy some SS M8 washers to get that fixed, and after that the bike is pretty much complete. Everything works as it should, the rest is basically just fine tuning the handlebar, lever etc positions after the first test run! I`m really hoping to get the fairings back this Saturday, hopefully the painter gets them ready by that and the next update picture will be from teh finished bike!

It`s still far from being completed, little pieces need to be painted, brackets cut etc etc touchup things but those can be done later once I get some miles behind me to confirm everything really works!

Got an email a while ago that both bummed me big time and also got me really thrilled!

The bummer part is that the fairings are NOT going to be finished by this weekend. Apparently they are not playing ball with the painter and have required a lot more prep work than anticipated so the finishing date has been pushed yet forward to some time next week. The only thing is that our son's 2yr birthday is next weekend so I'm not sure when will I be able to go fetch them home.

And the thrill part...

I got a few teaser pics.

Dunno bout you but I'm pretty exited! They're still missing all graphics and color from the sides but starting to look pretty cool! It's just this wait that's KILLING ME! I got a SERIOUS twitch in my right wrist and no, I'm not gonna use it on what you just thought about!

Very nice bro! Dig the color scheme and can't wait to see what it looks like with graphics.

Like the idea for mounting the taillight too.
