RE: Dirtbike
md8181, I will get you some pictures this weekend. I purchased the bike used in 02 from a Yamaha dealer, I have a title for the bike. The only thing that needs to be done to the bike, is that it need its fluids changed. The remaining gas also needs to be drained. Other than that the bike should be perfect. I had Yamaha replace the top end before I moved to Fl, I only rode on the top end a couple of times since Yamaha did it. The bike was running perfect when I left NY. I know the bike would start right up but I am not going to do it because it has been sitting, and the gas needs to be replaced. Like I said it has just been sitting in the garage for awhile.
where are you located? If you have any other questions let me know. My email is eclipse4845@hotmail.com. I will get you those pictures soon.

Yeah, I have a 2000 Yamaha XT225 that was my first bike. Damn thing is cold blooded and kinda puny. Gets great gas mileage...I'm really thinking about selling it so I can get a kick start on a good savings. Kid's XR400 had made me really wanna get one but that's too hard in Wisconsin (Can't convert off-road here)

I have an old XR75 trail bike. That bike is so much fun 5-speed tops out at about 45mph, perfect for the small trails and messing around the neighborhood on.
I really wanna save up and get the new CRF 230L, I always thought it would be fun to drive a dirtbike on the roads (legally). Plus its about time I get a bigger dirtbike.

Just remember, it's a lot of money to spend, and I know how you feel. Originally I was considering a TTR250 or WR250F. I'm glad I went with the YZ-F though, I like to do about 75% MX track and 25% singletrack / hare scramble trails. The WR would have been too slow and the TTR would have been way too slow and heavy. Of course the WR has headlights so it's a little bit of different animal. The Dual Sport class is what you're looking at, so you can do both street and trails. Also take a look at KTM if you have time, they are some of the best bikes now, on par with Yamaha and Honda.
If you need more advice, go to THUMPERTALK.com ...there you'll find forums on every dirtbike in the world, with experts on engines, suspension, racing, technique, health and fitness, you name it. Good luck and welcome to the dirt world.
[sm=exactly.gif] Post pictures of which ever bike you choose when you get it. [sm=Flahssssss.gif] Just be aware of the motocross bug, it's getting a whole new set of gear, a membership to a good local track, and a great amount of very addictive fun!

Yam,
Yeah I went looking at all the new dualsports around and I didn't really like the Honda. In person it kinda seems cheap, I know its bulletproof and will probally last forever but it really has the least to offer for $4500. I really liked the new Kawasaki KLX250s but it was too tall for me, I couldn't touch the ground....
Soooo I went and bought a 2001 KTM Duke II from a local guy a couple days ago and I couldn't be happier.
