My dealership will let you test ride if the manager signs of on it and you sign a paper that you will cover any damages done to the bike on your test ride. I got my F4 used so there was no way I was going to buy a used bike without riding it.

I only found one shop here in LA that will let you test ride a bike. Mountian motorsports(not promoting)in Montclair. But they only let you ride it in the back alley about 400 yards long to test the feel of the bike no room to run it up though. That's after you do the credit check and qualify.

When I sold one of my older bikes I wouldn't let anyone test ride it unless they gave me the cash to hold in case they wrecked it or kept going.

wow, the only dealerships around here that would ever even consider leting people test ride bikes are the Ducati dealerships (they have a pretty good demo program)
The local Honda/Suzuki dealership would laugh in your face if you asked to test ride a bike

My old Triumph dealership did test rides. It just isn't that common. Too many squids I guess. PLUS most of the local dealers don't even prep the new bikes until they have been purchased. The customer ususally has to come back later to take delivery.

When I was selling my ninja, two guys came by to look at it. One wanted to buy it, and he brought a friend to inspect. The friend asks me if he can take it for a spin, I asked if he had the cash for it if anything happens. He went on this whole rant about how he's not going to steal it and that he's going to be careful. Not being able to ride it didn't stop them from giving me a lowball offer though I kindly declined, and told them to get started on their 2 hour drive back home.
If you want to ride it, be prepared to buy it.
