Default Buells

One of my good friends just went out and bought a brand new 2007Buell 1200cc I was not impressed. First it was tiny, second it was not comfortable to sit on and third it shaked like crazy and sounded horrible. He and I went our for a ride and we decided to do a little drag. My 1989 CBR 600 and I took him easy. I had 5 car lengths on him in third gear. His response was to my bike was "that bike has some getup." He also said that Buells are more know for their cornering. Is this true?

For a brand new bike, I guess I would expect more. Why are the Buells popular?

Yes the do handle well but they don't make enough power to compete on any level playing field with the 600. A lot of good engineering idea's but until they get a good powerplant in that thing I will never buy one.

A Buell is the Ford Taurus of the motorcycle world. A Taurus is a great car that is quiet, smooth, etc, and most people looking for a nice sedan would like it...well, as long as they don't drive an Accord. After an Accord, a Taurus is a tractor.

A Buell is a great sportbike for someone that has to have a "Harley" but that's about the only thing good I can say about it. Buells kinda remind me of taking a Corvette and putting a Cummins engine with a truck transmission in it. Not my bag.
