now PG he may very well be a youngster I had to take that very thing into consideration earlier tonight and count to a trillion and besides haven't we shot enough rounds at this whole subject in so many different threads pointing out the sports car mentality of some who purchased motorcycles I would be happy to re-post that whole statement as a matter of fact I got so tired of retyping it I just saved the damn thing

in day to day riding the only difference you'll notice is torque
the liter bikes will pick up speed much easier at lower rpms than your 600
the average weight difference between a 600 and 1k is between 30 and 40 lbs

i say ride your f4i for a year or so then do some track days with it
after a few of those, then you can upgrade
but only if you feel you can't make up time in the corners

i used to say all i care to have are 600's but i came across a great deal on a 1000RR so i got it. i've been riding my 1000 in the street for a year and my 600 is now a stunted parking lot bike. i used to think that i should have just gotten a 600RR but a few weeks ago a buddy and i switched bikes and went for a ride (he has a triumph daytona 650). i couldnt believe the difference in pick up. i totally love my 1000 more now. as far as twisties, i still think my 1000 is pretty agile so i have no regrets. i love my 1000 and i'll prolly stick to riding the streets with a liter bike, but as far as stunts and super tight twisties, 600's still have my highest respect. i just like a little extra umph when passing cars.

I don't want a 1000cc bike, mainly because I'm 5'4 and 110 pounds. My F2 is plenty bike for me to handle. Anyways if you ever...ever... get "bored" with a 600 how bout doing some mods to it.

I mean If you own a honda civic put a turbo on it instead of buying a corvette.... hehehe ok that isn't quite a good analogy but thats my mentality.

My F2 has a full exhaust, jetted, air filter, performance CDI, and this summer I did a -1/+2 sproket kit. I can tell you that my bike is very fast for a 16 year old 600.
I have a top speed of about 130mph and I can get there in almost an instant.

1000s sound great, and I don't have anything against anyone who owns one but really why would you want to go that fast on the street. (and if its a track bike than keep it on the track). Idk I am kinda going on about this but I think people really don't understand how fast 600s really are. I mean have you looked at the new 1/4 mile times for some of the 600s sub 12sec I think. Damn Thats Fast.

I've owned 3 600 sportbikes. Unless I happen to catch the tires cold coming out of a turn, the rear just won't slide enough,
nevermind that the front end won't lift just a bit either.

The rear I like to feel slide just a half foot or foot and in gradual, smooth motion...enough to have fun.

Also...I should be able to power out of a turn in at least the first 3 gears...and be able to crack the throttle and get
the front a foot or so up, rear sliding...smoothly...controlled...gracefully.

That's the fun of powering out.

600's are a pain if not most times impossible to get this done and not lose acceleration, or be under accelerated entering the turn in the first place.

I'm ready for a 1000 myself.

I'll take it easy...and build up....but ultimately I know I will be faster and have a bigger grin with a 1000.

I have never ridden a new-generation sportbike. My first bike was a 1979 Honda 750k, then I had two 1983 750 Interceptors (one before the wedding and one after it ended). I bought a v65 Sabre this year after being bikeless for 10 years, mainly because of budget (and I always wanted the Sabre in my misspent youth). It was advanced technology in 1984 but certainly not now. Parts are getting scarcer, and reliability may become an issue. I'm not interested in the rr series because I'm 47 and not flexible enough to tuck myself into that position for any length of time. I rode a 95 CBR 1000f and really liked it; lots of power, but smoother than the v4, and much better handling. I think the 600 might need to be pushed in the powerband to perform the same way, and I'm not as much of a redliner as I once was. Although a 600 has more than enough guts to scare me, I'd still choose 1000 cc's for touring comfort.

But then again, I am a geezer........
