West to East Coast Sprocket Challenge!!!
I'd prefer somewhere within 500 miles of St. Louis and then I'd join in (again).
I don't know if it matters whether it is left in Oregon or Washington. I get the impression that many people expect UPS to drop it off on their front porch before they make an effort to get it moving. I'm sure there are a handful of members in the Pacific NW that are capable of moving this, even if it's just a couple hundred miles eastward.

That bike is loaded down!
That sucks a big sausage, you wouldn't happen to be in NorCal around july 18th-ish would you? If not I have an old beat up sprocket that we can start over with, and I'm moving down to SD so I can bring it down to the rest of you guys.

Did you dig and poke around in the grass and brush real well? The sprocket was put there nearly two years ago (09/25/2011) and he covered it with lots of grass way back then. I imagine things have grown up around it since that time.
I wonder if the sprocket was close to some geocaching location? That's the only way I would think that anyone else might accidentally find it hidden under lots of grass if they were searching for a geocache treasure. Then they'd have to return with a hacksaw or something to get the cable off the tree.
Edit: According to my geocaching database resources there are not any hidden treasures near the location where the sprocket was located. The person who put it there did say that the area looked like it was well used so maybe someone just happened to stumble upon it.
