Guns are not very practical for the long term, but decent for quick defense. They are noisy (attract attention),
Bow and arrows.Do you hunt archery? If not it is quit simple and effective if not looking to be noticed by sound. Take Rambo for example
I considered that too..but again, you have ammo supply issues. It's a compliment to your arsenal, but cannot be the sole form of defense. You still have the accuracy thing...and definitely more fatigue that shooting a weapon. Though a wall bristling with longbowman would be neat!

You'd need some kind of arrow retrieval system ifa bow/crossbow was going to be one of your main weapons. A silenced rifle would be ideal. Also, some kind of setup for mass killing would be needed near your hideout, cuz it always seems like there ends up being hundreds of zombies right outside your door at some point. Maybe a bunch of claymore's set about head high would do the trick.

Anyone else notice how you guys have the same supply ideas? (Tear thru wally world, kmart, ect.) You will all be killing each other before you even worry about zombies! Im about 20min from my parents house and that is where I have planned to go if there were ever to be a serious threat. Zombie, military, godzilla... I already have a stash started and there are some older good marksmen out there that would be a huge asset to have around. Id be planning to keep the group small and just be on the defensive using simple parimeter sensors like bells and wire and such.

Wildlife would have to be the food source for canned food would have to be pallets worth to last over a month. When the time came that food was a threat, then that is the only time I would plan to leave base to scout for goods thru abandon homes and only go out in groups of two.

You might not be able to depend on wildlife, depending on the source of the infection.

I'll admit it. I'm a *****. I wouldn't be able to honestly kill someone I loved if they turned into a zombie. I'd probably break down into tears, and be eaten by my flesh craving zombie relative. What do you expect though. I was raised by my mom. I can't help it.

Well if the zombies are the classical slow ones then things would be fine and easy, 28 days later was bs because we all know coagulated blood happens in dead bodies, which zombies are pretty much that, the walking dead. I'm a natural sniper, but i love automatic rifles like m4's and ar15's....i'd have to have a m4 with a m203. I'm usually a loner but i'd have to have a few bright individuals with me. The closest gun shop from where i live is in wilkinsburg...it's not exactly a great spot because no food places are close enough, i'd just take my small team, empty the gun store of all the arms and ammunition, then find a place to post a base, most likely monroeville mall, there is a dunhams really close and they have firearms also, and it's surrounded by food places.
