RE: you might be a squid if.......
I was gonna post it but this thread is already going. No need to clutter it up with more posts. But here are some not on that thread
This guy is soooooooo cool
the other day I saw some squids, I didn't get a picture but let me try to paint it for you.
The bike:
Riders:
Male and Female (2up) male up front.
Gear worn:
Crash rated shorts for both, He in a CE approved cotton T-shirt, Her in a similar CE cotton tank top.
No gloves (too hot for that nonsense)
Matching set of these:
going down a winding hill country road.
Also these:
And I have no idea what this dude was thinking:
I don't want to come across like some elitist a-hole but I hate to see people get hurt because they don't have gear on. Being too hot is never an excuse.

RE: you might be a squid if.......
There is different levels of Squid though. You have Calamari riders which are the worst, to your basic squid. Here's my example of a rider I saw the other day, he's a definite Calamari........
Calamari Rider:
- No helmet (it's latched to the side of the bike)
- Tank top or muscle shirt
- Shorts or sweat pants
- No gloves
- Flip flops or overly huge skater shoes with no socks
- Some retarded looking sunglasses (most of the time, white framed)
- Rides of choise include GSX-R 1300, ZX-14, or GSX-R 1000
- Bike is usually denoted by an excessively loud "look at me" buzzy pipe or slipon
- Pulls up to the stop light and just revs his engine to redline for no apparent reason
- Steers, doesn't lean
- Doesn't have any sort of motorcycle training, nor ever took a class
- Refers to his GSX-R 1300 as a "Busa" or calls his GSX-R a "gixxer" (you don't hear me calling my bike a "cibber" or a "Rrrrrrrr")
- Says he always rides triple digits on the highway and is usually the one doing 80 mph in your neighborhoods
(there's more, but my fingers hurt from typing)
Basic Squid:
- All mixture of any of the above, but DOES wear a helmet.

There is no such thing as a "squid" as reference to his apperance. It's the actions ofa rider.
So the pick above of the arian brother with no lid or jacket rides home without incident is he still a squid? I think not.
If Nick Hayden rode a wheelie thru an intersection in full gear and ran into a mini van would he be a squid? I think so..
According to most, the lack of gear is a squidable offence. I say if you think that and your not wearing track approved one piece leathers, boots, full gloves and atop of line helmet. then your a squid!!!
I really don't care if someone else is wearing less gear then they should, it's there problem if they go down and get road rash not mine. There not breaking any laws unless its a helmet mandatory state.
