well after losing 2 exp points in halo 3 multiplayer and restarting a single player level about 3 times (due to freezing). My console officialy has the RROD!!! I bought it about the time the red ring of death thing was hitting the spotlight so I made sure to keep my reciept. I went to my wallet started going through all the reciepts and its the weirdest thing. All of the ink from the reciept magically disappeared! So for all the rest of you guys that have had this issue do they make you send in a proof of purchase with your console or since this is pretty much a known issue do they just fix it?

^^ Yeah, the printing on the thermal paper tends to dissipate over time. (it's not ink really, the printing is just intense heat and it "burns" the paper if you will.) If you take a blow dryer to your receipt, it'll turn black completely.

Anyway, I just take my Xbox into Best Buy (got the replacement plan, MUST HAVE with the game consoles) I've gone through 3 white xboxs, and now 2 elites. Damn Microsoft, they can't make one thing that doesn't crash, melt or fail completely........but I love the Xbox anyway.

Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX, if you have not registered your console yet they will do it and send you a box, and I believe they extended the warranty out to three years for this, and they can tell you your warranty period based off of your serial number.

I've had my xbox elite since the day it came out.. never had any issues with it. Hopefully you're not putting it on your carpet because it doesn't get good air circulation...
