WTF!!!!!!
yeah, no kidding woo. went through all the reviews on tigerdirect and newegg and not one single mention of it. I ended up having him return the board and get a friggin evga 680 something chipset board because i was so pissed. In order to flash the bios i was supposed to make a win98 boot disk and use a floppy and i was like wtf?!It's almost 2009!!!asus allows you to do it within windows with a nice easy utility. I will NEVER buy, reccomend or work on another MSI product ever again. This is 2/2 times they have majorly let me down.
haha, that post was ****ing hilarious. I feel your pain. My first build ever, the CD of XP was actually faulty, it would load Windows up until the last minute, then freeze. I thought it was me, but no, after a lot of ****s and what-the-****s...maybe Linux isn't so bad...I heard Google is working on their own OS too...
My brother had to return his new Asus board right from the box. The store said that they have been getting alot of returns on all there boards. Because they jam so much stuff into them these days, there's alot more to potentially go wrong
hahaha i hope you have better luck out of the 680 than i did. that thing was the worst investment i ever made. dont get me wrong, when it works its great, but it took nvidia 6 times to get me one that worked properly. too bad i didnt see this earlier, i have a 775 p4 layin around here somewhere that i just used to screw around over clocking before i got my c2d. good luck
Ok, so now the computer is happy and running.
Results:
Took MSI board back to tigerdirect (went to store in naperville, IL) They tell me that they can set up an RMA there, but cant actually refund me anything or exchange the board because it was purchased online. So... out 170 bucks for a week.
Bought EVGA mobo in the store. Wouldn't post. WTF. Brought it back.
Exchanged pos evga board for an ASUS. (I love asus, and will never buy anything thats not asus ever again)
Thing works like a champ.
After I got that done, I set up a computer for my friend's girlfriend. (He asked me to because he has no cable management skills, and I can make every cable disappear.)
No display.
**** it, It doesn't matter to me if this one works or not... Im spending the rest of the week playing games and watching TV (and by the looks of the forecast, shoveling snow... or ice.)

I helped my friend build a PC a year ago, pretty nice set up, don't remember if it was a dual core or a q6600 quad or what, but we got it all together and was booting windows and bam, it shuts off, so we retry it, does it again, finally we get windows installed and it shuts off again, then we turn it back on and check some things inculding the temp. it was like 110c or something ridiculous. he didn't clip the heat sink onto the motherboard right and it wasn't actually touching the CPU, so it was just frying the **** out of it self then shutting off cause it was over heating... OOOPS. luckily it still works fine.
