I don't know about bike ins...but I know that most insurance companies won't jack your auto rate if the claim is under a certain amount.

 

Definitely send them the police report. It can't hurt?

 

Well.... insurance companies can't file a claim against mother nature.

A guy I know crashed his bike all by himself on an on-ramp. The cops gave him some kind of "improperly operating a vehicle" ticket after they showed up.

 

Insureance is legal rape. It sucks we pay all that money for it and then we are affraid to file a claim-it's kinda like what's the point. I have tons of coverage on my bike and vehicles, but I sure try not to file claims.

If you went down then it's your fault even if you hit gavel or a sick spot. Did you get a ticket for the wreck?

 

any time you get into a single vehicle accident, you'll be held at fault by the insurance company.

some dude ran my wife off the road, she hit the guardrail (was prego at the time too)...we filed a claim, insurance attributed fault to us since the other dude got a way...i countered their determination and threatened to take my business elsewhere...they gave in...

but as for gravel on the road, it's not going to work...maybe if someone had ran you off the road...
