why is it??
Many people just need something to believe in. Yes, some are very intolerant to other religions, races, etc. For some people, recognizing that the others beliefs as acceptable, basically illegitimizes (if that is even a word) their own believes. Their intolerance is probably due to some horrible childhood or maybe a chemical imbalance or maybe just normal for them. Who knows? Who can really tell?
If Jesus was to walk this earth again, in this day and age. Would we believe him? We would probably end up locking that person up in some sort of Insane Asylum or we would see him preaching on the street, a la Twelve Monkey's Would we believe then? I'm sure there are some that would. Those are the same that worship odd burn patterns on toast or spectral images that appear on windows.
That reminds me of a joke a priest once said during mass:
[blockquote]There was a guy at the Grand Canyon, looking over the railing. When he leaned too far and fell over. As he's falling down, he manages to grab hold of a branch. Dangling their he yells up...Help! Is there anyone up there? From wence a heavenly voice speaks down upon him. "I am here son. It is God." So the guy replies, "God? Can you help me?" The voice speaks back, "Yes, my son, but first, I would like to ask, Do you believe in me?" The guy very quickly responds, "Yes, God, I believe in you. I go to mass on every Sunday and I go to confession. I pray to you every night, I always try to spread your word, I do believe in you God." The voice comes again, "Very good my son, let go and I will help you." Silence.... "Is there anyone else up there?"
[/blockquote]I wonder how far people's beliefs go? To what limit? I wonder if they believe as much as Margaret believes (link). Are you the warrior? I have to say, people like this scares me.

Couldn't agree with you more BlindedinOrange. That was the main reason shortly after beginning my first deployment. I obtained a copy of the Koran and read it , to at least gain some perspective of what the religion was and what their beliefs were. but you will always find those close minded individuals unwilling to see anything beyond their own beliefs. It is the number one cause for wars in the history of mankind and is the reason we are at war now. Regardless of what, theconspiracy theorists may believe.
not to jack my own thread but hows the injuries Hardcorp?? you and the wife getting better?
and yeah I have read all versions of the bible, and books from many other faiths but none of them felt right.

The wine is flowing a bit freely this evening, which is one thing I miss about church. They mixed wine and bread when you symbolically drank the blood of their savior, which is very sick when you think about it. Tonight I have been paying homage to the Greek god, Dionysus. Now all I need is a woman since I have the wine taken care of. In ancient Greece, during a Dionysian festival, people would go out into the woods and drink as well as do other things that many would find sinful today. My ferret just decided to join me and now he moved elsewhere. He's not a bad roommate though. Anywhore, in ancient Babylon, you got to choose who you wanted to poke if you decided to worship at the temple of Ishtar but some of the women had to live at the temple for years because nobody wanted their holes. Now if you go to a church, you will find a bunch of women who drive their annoying kids to baseball practice while glued to a cellphone. Bring on the ancient religions...My ***** could use the help.
I think some people shouldopen their mindand....
"Dream like you'll live forever and Live like you'll die today"
Just do what makes you happy and if someone rains on your parade just think...
You never know if there will be a tomorrow.
Life is short don't waste it.
Being happy is more important than being right.
Do what you love and love what you do.
Something is always better than nothing.
You can't stoptime/change.
"Live life while you have it because you can't live it when you buried in a casket."

^^^ I agree. Your life is a gift, no matter what you believe, and you need to live it. I'll bet you could ask anyone on their deathbed, and they would tell you that life wasn't long enough. Don't waste it!
