when is it time?
600's are just easier to throw around. I ride my buddies 600 every now and again and love the thing. But I miss the brute force of my 1k @ the same time. In the twisties, you cant use all that power though, at least I can't....... And my 1k feels 2 miles wide and sluggish in the turns after bieng on a 600. I still wouldn't go down though. I know I can't and probly never will use my bike to its full potential but I love dropping a gear or two, hammering it and feeling that pull & lite front end. Maby one day I'll get good but till then I'm just a hp junkie that likes to pretend in the twisties. ( I do love those twisties though..)
Get a Fireblade, keep it in the "Family". everything is proportional in bikes (& cars ) I've had litre bikes, & ridden bikes well over that capacity. I always go back to & enjoy mid capacity machines. in the real world though, their putting more restrictions & are getting better at detecting (& penalising) road users.
Young dudes are just like Oliver Twist when it comes to horse power (Please Sir, can I have some more?)
It easy to justify in your own mind why you need more grunt, god knows I've done it enough times. Better acceleration = safer overtaking. more mumbo to get you out of trouble etc. I've only seen a few people that can screw the wick on a CBR600 to its full potential (I'm not one of them). However, I feel that you won't be satisfied till you have experienced a bigger bike, & there is nothing wrong with that.

This is the age-old question. Right up there with the chicken and the egg argument. A good rider on a 600 can smoke a bad rider on a 1k in the twisties, but a good rider on a 1k can smoke a good rider on a 600 on any road. Which type of rider are you?
The 750 and 1K gixxers are both badass bikes. If you liked it then by all means ride what makes you happy. The fact that you're asking a bunch of strnagers online makes me wonder about how ready you are though.

I've still haven't found it necessary to go liter or even another bike for that matter...i mean i would love a 1KRR for a Gixxer 750...but my bike still works, and i still rip with it...
Now...want vs. need...while the need may not be there, the want may be there...so it's not when you're ready, it's if you want to buy it...muahhahaha...
but with 1 year under your belt...probably shouldn't...and lastly...if you suck on a 600, you'll suck on a 1000...but that's assuming that the rider takes the bike to the canyons, track, etc...in which case...do you still need a liter bike?
now if it was just for riding around town...posing, etc...liter would be great!
