Sorry to find humor in such a serious thread, but where I just moved I see turtles on the road all the fraking time, not even exajerating, like at least 4 a day. It is insane. I don't know what would happen if I am to hit one on my bike, don't want to find out either, but playing the game of odds it is just a matter of time.

We're seeing a lot of turtles and other thing on the roads because we are going through a drought. Everything is moving to find water and most of our roads around here follow rivers and streams.

Here in Redding California there has been a lot of wrecks lately too. Me and my wife were going to buy a new boat at Harrisons Marine and the salesman (ummm boy, only 19) came rolling up in a wheelchair. Apparently he was the guy we read about that an old lady crossed into his lane and he hit her. He said he was going pretty fast and she came into his lane and when he hit he went flying over his bike and his helmet bounced off the top of her car before he flew into a tree (broke his fall the police say and saved his life) before falling to the ground for a 3 day coma. He had 2 broken legs, a broken pelvis, and a broken arm. Also a guy posted in the 1000 section about crashing at Buckhorn Summit ( In redding also) I guess it's because its summer and more people are riding? What do you think? Or are there just more old people and cell phone user?

So sorry to hear about all the losses. Not trying to rant or flame this up, but in response to Jimmie i thinka lot of it is image also. Some years back it was just cool to have a rocket, the only place you saw them much was at the track, so if you had one you must be a racer. Now a days you get a video or look online and everyone is wheelieing thru busy streets and in highway traffic. If you have chicken strips, or cant wheelie your some kind of wuss. If ya see a car full of hot women you had better be able to lift your tire on demand, its not good enough anymore to just ride. So now your getting a lot of new riders and what do they think, i have to be able to do this stuff and so they push it. Couple that with much more inative drivers, cell phones, etc. and its a bad mix. Again i'm not saying thats everyone, just my perspective as an old timer. I do truly hope though that the "rocket" image is able to change again tho in the near future, and hopefully it does not get much worse before it gets better. Stay safe out there.

So far, all of the wrecks I'm reading about are at the fault of the rider. It's hard enough to see us because of our size, so when you factor in the 100 MPH +... people tend to pull out in front of us.

That was my reply to the cell phones and idiot drivers.
