What is your bike's name? Is it always she?

Philosophical question for those saying it's a machine: do you think your bike "speaks" to you? Some said the bikes have different "personalities", which is a simple way of describing the minute manufacturing differences and the effect they have on operations.
But does it "speak"? Let yo know that last batch of gas was just a little off, the front tire pressure is down a PS I or so?

That being said, I really enjoy riding most days. It's calming, thrilling and makes you feel free'er. (that even a word? lol). It's the actual activity of riding that does it for me though, not what I ride. To be fair though what you ride has a huge impact on how much you enjoy yourself, and for that reason alone I love my bike. For the record though, I also love my Milwaukee 12v lithium ion mini impact drill-driver and the M18 full size version of it, great tools. I'm super fond of my mig welder too and what I'm able to do with it.....hmm, maybe I'll name it Trisha, or Lightning McWeldy. Nah... Sparktacus, yeah Sparktacus it is.

Nope. We can infer these things from being used to the bikes handling and can tell when something is off. I think personality is just a term thrown out to describe one models handling or engine characteristics over anothers. Actually feeling like your bike speaks to you is just your brain romanticizing the subconcious telltales it's learned to pickup and analyze about what's going on with the engine and chassis. Also the trust you've developed with it from it not breaking down the last hundred times you did this tends to feel like a bond.

just because you don't like to name your vehicles doesn't mean you have to rain on everyone's parade.
i sure dont name all of my vehicles but some of them do deserve a name do to circumstances.

I have not named "It," mostly just referred to as the 600.
I flog it
I overheat it
I get its fluids on my fingers every week
I wipe it
I lay it (down)
I rock it in my thighs
I ziptie it to itself
I curse it
I use a mallet to pummel it
I pound it with a closed fist
I glare in disgust at the flaws in its body work
gotta treat your women better than that... so no name

For what it's worth though, I really did name my welder Sparktacus now.

I've heard from many car buddies that naming your car was "good luck", which is why I do it with any motorized vehicle. As far as your bike having a personality, I wouldn't know. I talk to everything I own, that includes my computers, my toothbrush, my toilet, my keys, etc. It doesn't make me crazy, though. Really.
