1.) PIPES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A CUSTOM BUILT, PRODUCT SPECIFIC HEADERS ARE CALLED WHAT?

2.) AND PIPES THAT DO REQUIRE YOU TO BUY THE PIPE AS WELL AS THE (AS THEY PUT IT) MIDPIPE AND HEADERS ARE WHAT?

I'VE ALWAYS KNOWN THEM TO BE 1 SIMPLE THING.

Well, if I understand your rant correctly:

Some mufflers do bolt on w/ a 3 bolt patter; Suzuki's used to be big on this, ie the busa and older gixxers. The muffler bolted on via a flange to the oem mid pipe. You only needed the muffler.

A slip on does just that, it slips on. The mid pipe slips onto the header tube, then the muffler goes onto the mid pipe. In the kit is a mid pipe and muffler.

That's my understanding of it.

Then a full system is everything right up to the head. also about $800 for most.

I was confused, too, but I figured it was just because I was stupid. I thought a "slip on" and a full system were the two options.
