As she sits tonight... T(-12) hrs to surgery time!! I think she's little skeeered.... first time she's ever been opened up. Gotta pull the engine out and split the cases to pull the tranny out

What I'm doing:
-Replacing 2nd, 3rd, and 6th gears due to a jumping out of 3rd issue
-Replacing 3 shift forks and shift fork shaft
-Replacing neutral indicator switch (it's been PMS'ing for awile now)
-Replacing timing chain (no problems, just preventative)
-Replacing spark plugs (they're due anyways)
-Replacing thermostat (no problems, just preventative while I'm in there)
-Valve adjustment since it's due anyways
-Mount and balance new take-off rear tire I got last weekend

This is my first time doing this kind of stuff, so I guess we'll see just how good of a mechanic I really am! LOL

Wish me luck!!!

Good luck, and while your tinkering, did you ever get that wiring for you grips fixed? If not might as well heat shrink those up too

^ ^ ^ I wont speak for Third, but basiclly the engine is out, unbolt everything and lift the bike frame right off the engine and set it out of the way. Least thats how i done it.

Yup yup... that's what I was planning on doing. Might be a lil tricky if I'm here by myself... hopefully my buddy comes over tomorrow to give an extra set of hands for the heavy stuff

Kinda sounds like the way I do headgaskets on the 6.0L diesels at work, lol. I just did headgaskets on an '05 F-350 earlier this week, and usually we always pull the motor out to change them. But I was feeling lazy and really didn't feel like pulling the motor out (cuz they SUCK to pull out!!!), so instead I just lifted the entire cab off the truck, and just worked on the motor with it in the frame with nothing else around it. Soooo much easier that way!
