wow crazy story. Glad him and the bike are ok.... I guess it never hurts to have a reminder to ware gear every once in a while.

I can still remember every bit of my wreck. its taken me a long time to get my confidence. I'm still not even close to as good of rider as I was on my little 250 lol

Wow...scary chit. Makes you think? Be careful. Anything can happen abruptly. I have carelessly ridden on a pot
hole so big, it literally spring my *** up feel airborne. Or popping an un-intented wheelie an slipping off seat. Or any loose clothing get caught by a gust of wind? Any chit can happen, and best to gear up and lessen the hurt. Glad ut buddy is ok & bike still us decent shape. Could have been worst....

By "as good of rider" do you mean you've lost the ability to control your bike? Or do you mean you find yourself not attacking corners as hard, not riding as fast, not pulling wheelies, etc.? Chances are good you're just as able to handle your bike, but are more aware of traffic, the road and potential problems, and you ride more conservatively than before your accident.

In some books, mine included, that means you have become a better rider.

I'll see if he will let me take some pictures.

It was an Arai helmet (which he is pretty angry about, since he needs a new one.) Completely shattered the shield. One of the cars the stopped gave him a piece of his helmet from the road. It was intense. He had a Joe Rocket jacket, which is torn and had holes all over. If I am not mistaken it was mesh. The patch on the back that says "Rocket" was half ripped off so it was blowing in the wind on the way back to his house.

I wish I had taken pictures while there when it happened, but it didn't even occur to do that.

What roads were you on??? I live in MD and ride towards PA often, just wondering. If I have any guess as the crashing, it probably ha to do with someone else's driving if you were still in MD.

Actually, don't get mad about the Arai??? That's what really kept him well and no head injury Vs. less injury. You can replace a helmet in time but not your head?

We live in Northern MD. We had just left PA (long cruise) and were on our way back to Bel Air area. We were on 165, and had just went through the 136 intersection. It was a loooong straight away.

Exactly! He would have been in tons of trouble had that helmet not saved him. It was beat up pretty good.

I know roughly where that is at. I mainly ride on 70 towards PA. Sorry for the unfortunate luck, but glad everyone is alive to ride again.
