haha thanks wildcat. i mean, i guess it has its ups and downs. i can see where the constant riding partner is a plus. when no one else wants to go riding, she'll always be ready and willing to go! but at the same time, i'll be worried the whole time, watching her every move and those around her very carefully.

so here's my next question...........

is it best if i rode infront of her, so she can follow my line and take notes....and i just keep checking on her in my mirror....

or is it best if i rode behind her? i know that riding infront of someone w/ much more experience can make you extremely nervous and i dont want her to feel like she's being completely critiqued and graded. but i feel from behind her i'll be able to watch what she does and have a better view of people around her driving.
That's a good question, actually. I'd be curious to see what other people have to say. Personally, I'd split it up, let her take the lead sometimes, but I'd want to lead most of the time. If she's behind you then she can watch you and mimic what you're doing to help her learn, while not really feeling nervous since you won't be keeping such a close eye on her. IMO, the best way to learn is to ride behind people better than you.

From the standard practices of riding, the most experienced rider rides in front.

The wife and I have our own bikes, and I understand your fears. Maybe it's not a good thing, but she's always going to fast to give her a hard time. If we're riding in a group, she always on the outside, right behind me (which i don't like, cause then I can't enjoy the view)

Just make sure that she has gear that she thinks is pretty. Until she gets to the point of knowing that gear is for more that looks, you need to make sure she wants to wear it.

i get what you mean, if my girl, err...if i still had one, was riding and that happened i would go ape ****. my ex never even wanted to ride, i thought she would eventually come around, but i didnt really mind...i never really wanted to put her at risk and be responsible for it if anything did happen. so i was perfectly content riding alone for that reason, but i did always want her to experience it.

as for guys always harassing chics, damn leg humpers, and it does happen, seen a few stories on here that throttled me. i think the only thing you can do to avoid that is to ride with her, and try to disguise her as already suggested. once again, that sucks, but with as many douche bags out there as there are, those are really the only 2 courses of action that could be taken.

thanks gringo, thats not a bad idea to split it up.

well as i said above, she has a leather icon jacket, icon helmet, icon leather gloves, icon reinforced jeans and over the ankle boots. she wasnt allowed on the back of MY bike until she had all the above, so she's geared up and she actually loves the gear she has. she has the same mindset as me.........she'd feel naked if she went out w/o any of it on. and i go by something i read on here a long time ago and she feels the same (Even on the HOTTEST summer days)........"rather sweat than bleed"!

haha, and rrasco........i have the icon timax gloves (the older ones, the new ones are ugly!) w/ the titanium knuckles.......i already told her the first guy to put her in danger is gonna have a new design down the side of his vehical thanks to my knuckles!!!!!

i keep reading on here that most guys cant get their g/f's/wive's/fiance's ect. on the back of their bikes! i love taking my g/f out on nice days w/ a full tank of gas and no particular destination.........just where ever we go....we go!

We got my wife a bike towards the end of last year. She is in love, but it is hard for me sometimes. She has fallen over a couple of times (in the driveway), did the kickstand thing in the garage, and I posted about how she went down an embankment. On the other side of that coin, she actually does really well and I have a sense of pride watching her. I usually ride in front if she doesn't know the road, yet. The problem with that is, I am always looking in my mirror (instead of ahead), and she said she is always watchingme (instead of the road, surroundings, etc). When she is in front, I can see if she gets into trouble, and she says she can go at a pace that is 100% comfortable (I am usually too slow for her...45-50 mph max...when I set the pace). As far as which bike to get? My wife is 5' 2" and she can put both feet down on her Ninja 250. That is, IMO, the absolute best bike you could get her...unless she wants a cruiser. Good luck to the both of you. If/when you guys get to ride together, you will discover that it is very special. You know how good (spiritual) it is when you ride...imagine sharing that with your partner! Everything considered...it is worth it.
