Default UPS delays due to holidays?

I picked up my new helmet off ebay a couple of weeks back. First delay was my fault, as I had my paypal setup through my checking account and forgot to change it, so it took almost a week for the Echeck to clear... Finally got confirmation that the helmet was shipping and a tracking number this past Tuesday. My first shocker was that UPS says its "on time" for delivery Jan 2nd.. It's coming from Montanta. Is that normal for Montana to Alabama?? Given the Christmas hoop-lah I know it may take a day or two longer, but from Tuesday till Today the shipping info has not changed since the first scan in Montana lol..
I'm borrowing a helmet so I can ride, but we all know how hard it is to wait on that big brown truck to come, this is the longest I've ever had to wait! And I ordered some new bar ends about the same time. Guy calls me 3 days later and says they dont' have 'black' in stock, how bout chrome or CF... how 'bout NO, get rid of your friggin ebay ad if the stuffs not in stock. geez.
sincerely impatient,
mike [:'(]

My mother sent a package for my family yesterday, the 27th. It said it wouldn't be here till the 5th. She lives in Jersey, I am in Wisconsin.....about 1000 miles. Normally it gets here in about 3-4 days. I see that the delay is quite large this year.

It is perfectly normal and is NOT the shippers fault. i have been shipping stuff for ebay myself. UPS's last pick up day was wednsday the 24th. They will not be back to my store until Monday to pick up. items i already shipped that would usualy be there by now are scheduled "on time" for jan 2nd.

Definitely didn't say anything about it being the shippers fault... calm down lol.
Guess I just havn't delt with shipping during Christmas, wondered if that was a normal travel time from MT to AL, or if it was simply because of the Holidays.
Thanks

Thanks!

I work for the UPS Store and we tell all of our customers that NOTHING is guaranteed during the holidays. Not even Next Day Air. We have an enormous amount of packages the last 2 weeks of December, and still have people coming in 2 days till wanting it to get them there by Christmas.

Yeah I bet that's hell. I can remember shipping stuff for my old company around the holidays and standing in line for LONGGGG periods of time at our drop off. I wasn't trying to point the finger on anybody with this thread, just curious about that shipping time being the norm for holidays. No doubt it is, oh well, it'll be here soon enough! My smoked visor I ordered for the helmet will beat the helmet here lol. I can hold it in front of me and pretend I guess
