Default Tracks got me (lowspeed lowside)

Was riding into work when I realized I forgot my wallet / ID at home. So I went around the block and headed back to the apartment. It's raining a little so I was taking it easy. Turned to pull in to the driveway aaaaaand... Front tire caught then slipped on those ****ing trolley tracks out in front the house.

Down I go, bike landing on my leg, sliding for a couple feet. Upper right fairing cracked cleanly from mirror to about midway, lower right nicely scuffed. Couple raspberries on my right hip and knee from the slide (but it didn't burn through my canvas work pants).

Guess its something about freshly painted bikes that attract accidents. Only thing I coulda done better was get a bigger angle when approaching the tracks

Sorry to hear that Kuroshio. Guess it could always be worse...but yeah, I know it stinks to have that happen. Saw a rider earlier this yr get his front wheel/tire caught in a cattle-grate while making a u-turn. He didn't go down but really messed up that wheel. It simply slipped right down in between two rails & got stuck. Those things are slick!

Anyway, hope you're able to repair your bike w/o too much trouble.

Yeah the tracks are a pita. Easy to avoid riding, but coming in / pulling out of the driveway is treacherous.

What sucks is the cracked fairing. Gonna have to see if it's worth fixing or just start ebaying for one. Any recommendations for a temp fix?

Least it was coming into the driveway, not out of it jk

The only embarassing part was 2 little old ladies that saw offering to help me pick up the bike. Was thinking "great... add snapped old lady's hip to cracked fairing"

Hey man, sorry to hear that. It sucks to see hard work go to ruin.

Any reason why you didn't ride SEPTA?

They were off Strike as of Monday morning.

Well, at least you'll have a mini winter project for yourself!

Gaffe tape? Always brings things together in an emergency... including little old ladies hips.
When you find a repair/replacement fairing solution you can probably do the same for the hips.
Glad you didn't burn through your outer skin. I'm gutted to hear about this. Sucks is an understatement.
