!@#*$%* Tow Truck Drivers!
So Im sittin in my apartment last nite gettin ready to go to sleep. I hear this huge crash outside my balcony. I dont pay it much mind because the dumpsters are near my building so i figure its just the garbage man pickin them up. I keep hear a bunch of bangin around so I go out to look. I see my car being lifted from over the curb. A**hole tow truck driver had hauled my front wheel drive car by the rear for about 150 feet only to hit a curb with his truck and my car to fall off the lift onto the curb. Un-f***ing-real. I felt the need to express my feelings better than a 50 year old alcoholic with torrets syndrome could have. My whole building awoke with lights and people walkin out to see the display. I had left my keys in the apartment cause I hadnt thought much about this on my way out cause i didnt think my car was being towed. I went in to grab my keys but the guy got my car before i got back out. I chased him back to his tow truck lot on my bike only to be run around in circles by some russian broad who could barely speak english workin in the office. Apparently you must be the dumbesst walks of life to be workin at a tow truck lot at 2 am. They refused to give me the drivers name. Our leasing office hadnt even handed out our parking permits yet. So this morning i get to look forward to gettin my car back and you better damn well believe im not payin a dime.
hahaha man that sucks... at least you know who towed it. The worst is when you get your car towed but you don't know who did it, then you're on a wild goose chase all over town to find your car and of course the people who work at the desk at the tow truck parking lots aren't sporting their masters degrees in telephone communication so their like, "uhhh i don't think we got that one" come to find out it was the first lot you called! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That would suck, it never happened to me, but I hear horror stories all the time.
id be pissed....one thing to consider, if they towed you unlawfully, it is grand theft auto. you can also sue them, especially since they dragged your car the wrong way and *dropped* it on a curb. was there any damage to it? id be creating a police report and getting me a lawyer. there are often car thefts that happen this way, they use intimidation and quickness to tow cars from lots they are not authorized to.
