Default Tools and storage....

I'm planning on transitioning to using my F2 for 50%+ for my 95 mile a day commute for the riding season. I'm thinking I could use some saddle bags...don't have to be huge...but big enough to carry standard crap like tools and rain gear. PLUS, it would be nice to have a place to put my lunch bag. I actually hate leaving home without tools and I'm actually kindof concerned leaving them in bags on the bike...(but not completely against the thought). The OEM toolset and compartment door is missing, but those tools weren't really great to begin with.

Do you carry tools?
What kind of tools do you typically carry if any?
Where do you carry them?
Have you ever needed to use them while on the road?
Do you know any saddlebags that you would recommend for my F2?

A multi tool's a good item, plus plug spanner and spare plug, puncture repair kit, zip ties, appropriate spanner sizes - 10, 12 17MM maybe a small shifter, can of gunk to blow up the tyre when puncture is fixed, alan keys, duct tape, spare fuses and yes I've had to use them. Why not carry a rucksack or use bungees to strap a small bag on your rear seat- save some money.....

F2 Tool Kit

You can just buy the whole package that came with the bike.

I've been thinking of getting something like this. You can store stuff on the bike and carry your stuff with you when you get off the bike.

Well, it's been a decade plus six years since I bought saddlebags for my '91 F2, but I did buy them, and I did use them on a roundtrip across the mountain west in the US. They even held up to a little auto-crossing on the grassy shoulder at about 60mph (didn't crash!?). Actually, one strap tore a little bit, but they came with a life-time warranty--I just haven't ever sent them in. Chase-Harper is the brand name and I was really happy with the quality and space available--I can only imagine what they have for this millenium. But yeah, I thought they were great on the 600F2...
