I have been thinking for a week or so now about moving to an F4i ... as a lot of you know my F3 sits in bits in my garage just now and my continued battle to put any weight or strength on has me thinking about something a wee bit lighter ... I originally was saving up to buy a 600RR but having not worked in months I need to watch the pennies a bit more. SO I thought compromise here, how about a late, mint and low mileage F4i?? ... this tired old cat woman needs her creature comforts ..lol

I see from figures that my bike is 185Kg whereas the F4i is 170Kg, can anyone verify that difference ... 15Kg seems worthwhile to me especially as I am hoping the bike may also have a lower C of G compared to the F3, so basically less weight AND lower down which would help me a lot to move it about, every little helps when you weight nothing ..lol ..I want/hope to be riding again in the spring and I could probably pick up an F4i reasonably cheaply over the winter ..does anyone else think that might be a worthwhile upgrade over my F3

Your F3 is beautiful Jules and it's only ever been yours. Fix it up and keep it. It's the least you could do for the old girl after what she's been though. After you get your strength back this winter, you won't even notice the extra 15kg.

 

Sorry, but if I were you, Jules, I'd get the F4i. I love the fuel injection.

 

Thank you Ethan, but I would still be keeping the F3 ... they are not worth much and its been with me for so long, I would still fix it up ..when stronger I could ride it again too ... but I want to be on the road for the spring with something I can really manage :-) ..assuming of course the F4i would be noticeably easier to move about??

I have often wondered why is it you guys love the fuel injection so much over carbs??

I was weaned on carbs and like them ..I am able to service carbs and balance them too ..I have done the carbs on the F3, stripped, cleaned and balanced them without any problems ..it always runs seamlessly without the slightest glitch and makes a lovely throaty growl from the ram air system when you open the taps ... so what is it that you prefer about fuel injection??
