Anyone have any thoughts?

It looks good in person. The paint job is nice. The guy claims the plastics are stock, and he bought it from someone who decided to repaint it because he didn't like the factory scheme. Apparently, that paint job sucked, so the current owner had it done in red/black. The only real flaws are that the seat doesn't seem stock (it leaves gaps at the sides he put a gel insert in it as well), the undertail has been chopped but looks decent. The tail light is stock, and works fine as a brake light/signal, but the visibility of the signals could be better, so i'd probably add a couple small signals back there. The wheels are stripped and polished, but the center of the wheel isn't stripped. The line between paint and bare metal is a bit jagged in spots, and needs cleaned up. Mechanically though, it's top notch, and it's clean as hell.

Here's a couple of cell phone shots:

The real gem was the RC51 (sorry about the shaky shot):

Sadly, it's not for sale.

Anyway, I feel pretty good about this one.

if all is in good working order, i would probably jump on it...maybe offer $3500 and feel him out....i think $4k would be good but it's worth a shot...how many miles again???

i would argue that you would want to fix the seat because that is obviously a chop job and doesn't look to good...tell him you would also like to tidy up the wheels (tell him you're a perfectionist)....if he bites at $3500 take it, if not, take it at $4k....

with the few upgrades and it being a 929, seems like a decent deal....plus i love red/black

It has 15k mi. I tried to get him to shave a few hundred off, but he won't budge. I mentioned the wheels and seat, but he's pretty sure he's the best deal on a cbr in the area. He's right. I've looked. A lot. Lots of fixer-upers. Many of which are asking more than this.

BTW, I read up on your bike mods ffingers. Very nice!

well i would spring...like we said before, if it *feels*right and the price is okay to you, hop on it....otherwise, it's going to get sold and you are going to wish you got it...if you don't have the warm mushy feeling inside thinking about it, pass on it....if you do, go grab it boy!

as for my mods, thanks....i am going to being doing a lot over the winter...i just got a new swingarm to powder and get ready then to swap onto mine, i'll be doing more PC'ing, putting on new rotors, pads, and a few other fun things that i just sort of found....those will be a secret til i put them on!

Uh oh. The title isn't in this guy's name. It's in the previous owner's. He claims he didn't title it because he was planning on turning it over for a profit. He wants $50 more to cover re-titling, so that I'm actually buying from him. IDK. This just got very complicated. I think I should walk. UGH!!!

Tell him to let you know when he's gotten the title straightened out. Otherwise how do you know the bike doesn't have liens on it, or that it's actually his to sell?

Is it worth it to check stealerships? Last time I checked, I was blown away at the high prices they were asking for mediocre bikes.
