those min bikes or pocket bikes...
Ok I dont have any experience with them but would like to get one for my daughter who is 12...she has a helmet. My question is are there gas powered and battery and which one is better? Is ther a better brand out there? I have seen a couple battery ones at toys r us and wondering where else I should be looking. And what is a good price for them, around here I think they are about 200 bucks. Any help would be great, thanks
Autozone used to sell gas powered pocket bikes for $400 if I remember right. I would go with a gas powered, you could probably find an older Honda Z50 (dirt bike) fairly cheap if you look around. My brother, who's 16, is trying to buy one for $200 or $250 and its a '95. Hope this helps you out, but I would say to get the honda, I will talk to my brother because hes really into them and see what he says and then I'll post back.

you should be able to get a gas powered 49cc shipped to you for under 300$.. you might want to find one and have your girl sit on it first though. they might even be to small for her to ride comfortably

i've had several different ones over the past couple of years, in general i'd say you're daughter shouldn't have trouble with any of them (unless you get one with a geared tranny, esp a manual clutch one.) the drawback of a single gear is a slow takeoff and low torque. the cheaper ones will likely be the 2-stroke variety, which are a pain - i'd definitely recommend spending the extra to get a larger 4-stroke bike. another thing to look for: hydro brakes, don't get one that uses cable-pull brakes.
they're getting bigger and faster all the time -- i was doing about 50mph on a modified 50cc, and now they're available with 110cc that are supposed to be capable of 70mph; so dress appropriately and make sure she can handle whatever you get her. my 12 year-old had a blast.

LOL me and my brother ride them. I'm 6' and my brother is about 6'1" or so and we ride them no problem. My brother is even thinking about racing the 50s. I don't think your dauter would have a problem, but thats just my .02

Personally I don't like the pocket bikes. The ride is not right and the feel is all wrong. I only took out a buddy's one time and was not impressed at all! A small dirt bike is my suggestion, besides in Maine they made riding those pocket bikes illegal. [8D]
I have one. It is a 26cc two stroke tiny little pile of fun. They are all over the place over here.
I am in agreement with getting a little z50 to start with. I have one back in the states that my son and I play around with when we go back. It is like 20 years old but still runs like a champ. That is one of the best ways to get kids riding I think. Not too fast, cheap and they get to ride/play in the dirt.
