About two weeks ago I needed to hire a new employee and called the local paper and they wanted over $300 for a 1 week listing. Not to long ago it was only $85. Needless to say I didnt put in the ad so, I decided to throw an ad on craigslist.

I was shocked at the responses I got. The first 4 hours (posted it at 8pm) I received 12 replies for the job, the next day around 5pm I had to pull the add. I had 46 replies and all of this was for an unskilled laborer starting at $9 an hr.

I saw alot of degrees on the resumes. Alot of the people were willing to travel over 40+ miles each way everyday, a few even tugged at my hart strings with sayings like " I need to feed my family and dont let the office jobs fool you, I will work very hard for you and if I dont you dont have to pay me" ( I would of gave him a shot but he was one of the people 45 miles away and it would of cost him more in fuel then I could of paid for the position). I was really looking for a local guy which I did find and started him at $10 hr and he was out of work for over three months.

Hopefully the economy will get better in the spring, I see this lasting the rest of this year.

Oh, excellent. I've just gone back to school at 35 to help get a real job...silly me, I thought a degree meant you have a better chance. OK, well, I mean, alright, whatever, I don't need a home, I've lived in my truck before, whatever, I don't care, ****, I can always go back to painting, $17 an hour with no benefits isn't that bad, hell, whatever, it's okay, I'm sure god meant for this to happen... *crying*

sad but true... at this point the market is inundated with people with and without degrees so a lot of jobs that typically didn't require a degree are being taken by people who have one.

I hired this one guy with an MBA a few months ago who owned his own chimney sweep business. His business was so slow he took a sales job working 4 days a week and making $2k a month. He did get benefits for $20 a month which was enough to warrant it, but he sucked so bad at having a boss he was out the door within 8 weeks.

I hate to hear you guys are getting rid of your bikes...that F'N sucks. Get the god damn price of gas down and everything will be cheaper and be a huge psychological boost...but this trillion dollar bailout of Wall Street while all these ******** bail out with their golden parachutes and 100 million dollar pensions is just bull$h*t. I'm tired of propping up these schisters and handing off this debt to us and our kids. All these banks that just loaned anyone with a heartbeat money to buy a house....yeah...that was going to work out well . When I bought my first house...I had to put 10% down....then they came up with these 0 down interest only loans...riiiiiiigghhhttttt.So many people lined up and fed off that trough...they should be paying for this one...not the taxpayer

Those loans 0% intrest loans were distributed for no more than just plain ol greed. Just so they could fatten margins and make their golden parachute even bigger!!

+1. I hate to say it like that though. I just say, we all have options. It seems as if some will lose everything before even considering.[sm=usa.gif]
