The bulbs are just bulbs, it is the same thought as buying the expensive HID light on a car. You may have it last a long time or it will go out, there is just really no way to tell. I have said though it is easier to replace a $200 bulb than a $1500-$2000 LCD broke dick tv. You can replace the bulb yourself as well, so no need to have to take it in to get fixed, that is a plus in my book.

I got a 65' rear projection, Not the most practical all purpose tv ( sucks in the daylight ) but great for watching movies/ playing games at night. I've also been looking at getting a new tv for the living room. I personally think that plasmas are overated and that LCD is the way to go. There's a new tv on the market now called OLED ( Organic Light Emitting Diode ) wich will probably dominate the market one day, but don't hold your breath just yeat. Sony released a 11 ' OLED tv for $1700.oo !!! I wonder what 40-70' would go for?

I have a rear projection 55' Mitsubishi and love it. I have had it for 5 years but it isn't as good in daylight and my friend has a new Sony Bravia 52' lcd and it is bright as can be. My next tv will be an lcd for sure.
