Stop the negativity ...
I didn't try to be negaitive about it. Just for me, where i am in life, i might need to rethink riding. It's not for everyone, i don't think anyone can argue that. My work is dangerous enough, i don't need to add to it, i'm not a single man anymore.
It's when someone like TK goes down doing nothing wrong that bother's me. Crashing a bike isn't like crashing a car, it usually breaks bones, etc. I have liabilityy and no health insurance. I love to ride, but if i were to go down, i would be set so far behind i don't want to think about having to crawl out of that hole. lol.

Jules
When I was 23 I was in a serious accident with a boyfriend who drove too fast in his car .. he used to scare me ... I always told him to slow down but he never listened to me
So no one kicked his ***? Someone should, fly me over there, I'll do it.
And I'm convinced now that British dudes ARE complete idiots. No offense to you, Jules.

If I could saddle back up and be on the road, I would not be posting right now.
Once you let fear be the driving factor for your decisions in life, you have stopped living. IMO.
I dont havemuch mobility in my left shoulder, but I am going out to the garage tonight to strip the bike of the broken parts. I will be making my orders for parts next week and should be back in order by the middle of April.
In the past these "going down" threads did not make me want to stop riding. What it did do was show me the importance of gear. It was always impressive to me how much abuse the gear would sustain and the rider was able to walk away. I now have two close friends and my father who will be wearing full face helmets after seing the marks on mine. I am glad that others have been able to learn from my mistakes, and they will now be riding safer the next time they saddle up.

It is funny that guys think that fast driving impresses women, but what really impresses women is when you make them feel safe.

sigh ... you have no idea of the powerful truth you have just spoken ...
EDIT: actually I believe you do ...
Jules, I can see wot your trying to say & that's good, but I still believe a certain amount of respect to riding is also a good thing. I guess it can be a fine line between being alert & riding defencivly & being sh*t scared & not riding at all. I've had those moments, when for wot ever reason, I was apprehensive about going out on my bike (usually persuaded to by friends) & could not get my act together & over reacted to road & traffic situations that usually would not phase me, 2nd guessing myself all the time., To quote Frank Herbert "Fear is the mind killer".
So think positive, ride defensive.
"Over the mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The shade replied -
"If you seek for Eldorado!" Edgar Allen Poe
