STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw it last week. My wife is like your GF and really into the series of books. I must say that I did not enjoy it all. I like vampire and werewolf movies, and this really wasnt one. I knew it going in, as you said its more of a love story, but the acting was really bad in my opinion. the girl kept of making that nazel whining noise before she would talk, and she wasnt even hot. the main actor was a total dweeb. I mean, the other characters in the movie were better looking and did a better job of acting than the main characters.
If there were different people in the lead roles, a little more into the vampire thing, it may have been a good movie. I dont suggest anyone go see it.

A HUGE pet peeve of mine is talking while watching a movie, and I'm not shy about telling someone in the theater to STFU. I'll ask nicely first, but if it continues or if they give me attitude, I'll pretty much yell STFU at them and usually a few others will vocally agree and it stops.
Once, it was to the point where I could have murdered someone. They kept kicking my seat and talking. I asked them nicely MANY times to stop......and they just kept doing it (some late teenagers that wouldn't STFU and were on their phones). Finally, I told them to be quiet or I would find a way to make them leave. They replied "bring it", so I sat back down, took the lid off my soda (Dr. Pepper with no ice as usual), and cocked my hand back over my shoulder, drenching both of them. Guess what, they left.
Another time, someone in front of us was texting.......and in the movie theater, those cell phones light the place up like a flipping battlefield. So again, I nicely ask at first, and get major attitude from this girl saying to "mind my own f**king business". Asked her politely again, and she gave me the finger. So, I took out my high-powered LED flashlight I carry with me sometimes (BRIGHT flashlight) and just shine it over her shoulder. She told me to turn it off and I replied "after you." That ended that as well.
I honestly think theaters should have a no tolerance policy. Have a person in the theater that watches people (like in the expensive iMax theaters). You whip out your phone....you are told to leave. You talk or disrupt......you are told to leave. I've never had a better theater experience than at the iMax. NO one talked, no one had their phones out either......it was GREAT.

my most notable experiences with loud *** people during a movie was when "biker boys" came out, and when "pineapple express" came out. i wont get into why the former was annoying cus i dont wanna sound like a rascist but with the ladder it was stoners screaming "yeah" everytime weed was shown or mentioned and teenage girls that think seth rogan is suddenly the hottest man on earth gasping and giggling the entire time for all to hear.
Man Jaynd, it felt like I was the one writing that post. Im in the same boat as you...my ex-gf was OBSESSED with those books. She got to finishing them like one per day until it came out.
Didn't end up seeing the movie with her, we broke up before it came out. I did go with some friends though and I thought it was pretty good. Yea the acting was bad...but im sure it would have been better if I was a 14 y/o girl and had actually read the books, but it was good none the less. And Alice was smokin hot

Oh and on the annoying people in theaters subject...my sister invited her friends to the movies when we went, and one of them would just not shut her little yapper. I mean every thought that popped into her mind she felt the need to say. She kept going on about how "that didn't happen in the book" and "the book was better" and "OMG Edward is soo hot" BLAH BLAH F**KIN BLAH
