Silly beer question.
I prefer Guinness, but I've found a lot of people just don't like it. If you're looking for a sweeter beer, they make apricot beers like Magic Hat #9 and some of those belgian beers are pretty sweet from what I hear. The Sam Adams summer ale has kind of a tangy sweet taste to it, too. I haven't really gone out of the way to try many different beers. I know there's a place in Boston with like 300 different beers or something. I tried a blueberry beer there that wasn't too bad.
I just re read this and what Crashtech said Killians Irish Red is also very good, as well as New Castle....
and what Nex said there is no quality taste from Miller/Bud/Coors/Busch/american beer in general.... imo

I hated beer through prett much all of college, but that was beause people were drinking **** not beer. If you dont like bitter, stay away from ipa's. Stick to porters, bocks or stouts or some ales. I don't care who you are, guinnes is NOT bitter, it tastes like chocolate milk. As was already mentioned, go to a brew pub and order their sampler. Its usually about $6 for 6 beers. Note what TYPE ofbeer youlike, then try other makes of the same type. Try any of the wheat beers, many of them have a lightly fruity taste to them, like franziskaner for instance, or blue moon. The belgian beers are generally wheat but belgian beers are also made with a whole different method. Here's a laundry list of stuff you might like or is at least worth trying:
Lienenkugel sunset wheat (tastes like fruity pebbles)
Lienenkgel summer shandy (shandy isa mixture of lemonade and beer. Perfect summer beer)
Lienenkugel berryweis. Too fruity for me, and its pink when poored so keep it in the bottle
Bluepoint summer
Bluepont blueberry ale
Bluemoon/ shocktop... basically the same stuff
Kona wailuha wheat
Kona pipeline porter (made with real kona coffee)
Or, do what I do in the summer. Friday night bbq, everyone brings a 6 pack of somehing new/ ifferent and try them all. Beer is definatey an aquired taste but its worth the time. I would rather not have a beer then drink a coors lite.... cheers!

i dont hardly ever drink, cause its not my thing (ive got a different vice haha) BUT when i do i enjoy something like a New Castle (awesome) or Shock Top (awesome as well). though i dont drink, IF i do drink, its always beer. i dont care for liquors much. all previous statements about first liking beer are true, its an acquired thing that you soon expand into different tastes
saw both previously mentioned but thought id throw my 2cents in
