Tell him but explain it just as you did here. Tell him that the sprocket is geared down for less torque so its great for him to start out on. Tell him if he's ready the next time the sprocket needs to be replaced he may want to try a stock sprocket, or if he's still learning and happy with the bikes performance he can keep it where its at. Let him make the choice. He already has one mother and likely doesnt want/need another
I know whenever I buy a new vehicle I always want to know everything, whether its good or bad. Its only fair.

It's best to tell him.
Here's the thing. You cared enough to take the time to make a post and poll about it, which equates to the fact that it is something on your mind. You need to tell him for no other reason then to get it off your chest.
The mans happy so let it be let him do what he wants with it and dont worry about a thing. I just hope he is careful with the bike and treats it with care and respect.
ok well im going to call the guy in the morning see how he is doing maybe meet up and check out my old bike
and i probably will tell him. thanks everyone for your advice

I say tell him. Its his first bike. So Im guessing he doesn’t know a whole lot about bikes. This could be some good information for him to know. He may be fine with the sprocket on there but its still some useful info for the guy. You didn’t screw him over or withhold anything important. I wouldn’t care if it happened to me but would be grateful for the lesson on the different sizes of sprockets.

+1 Exactly what I was gonna say. If this is actually on your mind enough to make a poll just tell the guy and get it off your back.
