Non-emotional scars: Chin, elbows, chest, busted teeth, and knees from bicycle (BMX) wrecks. Fingers from working on boats. Face, from cheek to ear due to spinning around in a chair and then being flung off, parallel to a wall which had a nail sticking out. Nail ripped through my cheek! Not so visible now, but I still get a few jokes about looking like some German fencer. Small one on neck from cervical lamectomy resulting from broken neck. Broken just about every bone, too. My poor Mother was always taking me to Emergency rooms. Pace, Gris.

That I'm now even more allergic to pain than I was a few minutes ago!

Sorry, no pics, no scanner here at work. Age 11, found a cracked jar in the yard and put both middle fingers in the neck to see if I could pull it apart. Yeah, it worked, 13 stitches in left middle finger! Road rash at age 8 while riding my dad's old Cushman scooter on the street, hit some sand on a curve and went down, scar on right hand. Age 15, loose gravel + bike = 8 stitches in right elbow. Age 21, showing off on a dirt bike, "Hey y'all, watch this!" Went down, lay there winded until I smelled burning and realised it was the pipe cooking my right knee, nice rosy scar. A few more crashes but no scars until '98. T-boned an SUV at 30, c**t made a U-turn as I was passing a line of stationary traffic, 10 feet in front of me! No idea how many stitches; 26 trips to hospital, 2 bone grafts, steel plates and pins, left arm looks like a road map with a few divots taken out of the old flesh! In '01 a British postman exited a one way street in front of me, Ilocked up, stopped, overbalanced and put out my left hand to save the bike (like I was really gonna hold up a Z1000 one handed!). I heard the snap as the wrist went. This was the same one that had cost me 2 and half years off work after the T-boned SUV in '98. Back to hospital for another bone graft and more steel plates and pins. I swear, I can't pass a metal detector now! The only upside to the last two was that it happened in Britain, God bless the National Health Service! Never paid a penny in medical costs! What do you suppose 3 weeks in hospital, 3 bone grafts, 2 ambulance trips, meds and the services of FIVE consultant surgeons and an anesthesiologist, physiotherapy and hydrotherapywould have cost here?
