Yeah I liked the Exorcist to, I grade "scary" on wot I saw growing up. The 1st movie that scared the crap out of me, was a black & white movie called "Them" about giant ants, mind you I was only a kid then, next movie was Jason & the Argonauts & The Thing. But I've found that a lot of movies are pretty obvious & are just plain horror movies, I like a good ghost type story, that builds slowly & then scares the buggery out of you when you least expect it. Every culture on earth has ghost stories & I guess we have a subconscious fear already there for the priming. (I lived in a house with my parents when I was 10, never got got a decent nights sleep for the two years we lived there, experienced some stuff there that still freaks me out, so I know wot I'm talking about). My favourite movie in that genre is "The Innocents" with Deborah Kerr.
The Exorcist certainly pushed a few panic buttons though.

Home alone... I s**t myself the first seven times I watched it[8D]
Honestly, I'm one of those people in the back row of the theatre laughing my a** off during scary movies... all the modern movies in the horror genre rely solely on the surprise factor... which gets old after about 5 minutes. Well, there's a teenage girl in her house alone at midnight and she just noticed the back door is hanging wide open... I wonder what's going to happen? There's no possible way an escaped psycho with a can opener might kill her!

Scary movies are scariest when you're a kid...The Thing was *****-out frightening, and I literally walked out of Pet Cemetary...seems silly now, but I was poop-free by the middle of the movie...
