schwinn katana is 350 new on amazon...its a good starter bike.

( I have run a few sprint triathalons with it )

Yup basically that is all you need, and a helmet depending on your laws. It comes with straps on the peddles that can be used or not. but it is very useful to use them so that you get power out of your upstroke as well.

When you really get into biking you can buy bike shoes that clip in, and lots of people like to get bike shorts ( spandex type deal with padding for long rides)

I actually just sold mine on craigslist because I am wanting to upgrade, but I got great use out of it! ( I actually sold it for 350, telling them in the post the eBay price which is like 200 dollars higher heeh :x)

Also I had a bike computer installed on mine, tells you max speed, average speed, temperature of the day, distance traveled, time traveled, etc. A good piece to have!
