Road Bike (the human powered type)
Thinking of getting into road biking for some new cardio work.
Looks fun.
Don't want to break the bank starting a potentially not my thing type hobby.
Soooo...
anyone have some experience? thoughts? Suggestions on where to start.
/ what to start on.

I don't know much about bikes, but heres my .02 cents.
Once you get around the $700-1000 dollar range they are all pretty good, just depends on which one fits you. Go test ride a few.
For me, a dedicated road bike did not make sense as I also like to mountain bike and don't want two bikes. I ended up with a mountain bike and put slicks on it for road use. If you want to spend the money a second set of rims makes for an easy swap.
I went with a Giant as it fit me the best. Trek felt the worst.

ive been looking to get back into mountain biking actually. That was my first two wheeled hobby back in high school till my bike got stolen. damn thieves. Ive been looking into the 500-1000 range but it seems like at that range i can get a decent new bike or a pretty good condition used one thats got way better parts on it, and a lot of people have suggested going with one of those. Im not gonna be goin too crazy so i dont need top of the line stuff, just something decent to have fun on. But im sure its the same case with road bikes and something you might want to look in to if youre one of those types.

Good stuff guys.
I'm looking for a fitness type road bike - there are quite a few good trails around DC for it.
Might go to a bike shop and get fited for one tomorrow. I figure give myself about a grand budget for bike / gear stuff. Not the end of the world if I don't enjoy it.
Looking at entry level bikes and used ones too. Still lots of research to do.

#spinclass Take one of those, about 3 times a week for 6 months. Girls, in spandex, with nice asses and it's a cardio workout from hell. They make the seats uncomfortable so you have to stand up pedal.
