Replacement Cell Phone Question
So I've had my Nokia 6255i forever and really do like it. It's been thru everything and has been looking pretty sad these last few months. Well, after yesterday, the keys are officially doing what ever they want...or don't want. I looked at the lineup offered my my service provider and am not very impressed. So I went to Ebay, and of course! There everywhere.
Now my question is, if I buy one of these used phones, can it be reprogrammed to take the place of my broken phone? I don't want to go out and buy an "outside" source phone and not beable to use it.

I'm with "Cellcom" I believe they are based out of Wisconsin and don't go much outside of it either. Anyway, I called them and they told me that they may be able to use a supplied phone as long as it's "unlocked" and is CDMA setup...not GSM.
Yeah unlocked CDMA phones work on any CDMA network but there's a catch
Your best bet with CDMA is to get a phone that is sold exclusively to work the carrier you use becuase some carriers (such as Verizon and Metro PCS) won't even let you use an unlocked phone on the network if it's not a phone they sell... however you can get an unlocked CDMA phone to work on a CDMA network you just have to get the company to agree to put it on there for you... if you're company is already saying they'll do it then that's fine just make sure the phone you're buying is unlocked
Its not that hard to do but CDMA phones requires reprogramming of certain inputs physically in the phone in order for it to work on the network

Well, it looks like someone answered your question, so I am going to thread jack.
What is the most durable phone on the market? Is it waterproof and throw at the wall proof? Needs to work with AT&T.

Should I steer clear of phones that are listed as "Alltel"? A lot of the 6255i on Ebay are listed as Alltel phones...I'm guessing that even if they are CDMA, they only work under Alltel???
