Here's a Beemer that's in my range...not sure if it would be a good choice though?

And a Grand Prix that I asked info about

Beemers will cost you more maintenance wise.

As for the Grand Prix...nice car. Keep in mind there was a wiring harness issue (don't remember the year) that affects the transmission. If you notice some weirdness in the shifting, then take it to the dealership to fix under either warranty. Also keep in mind you can get a extended warranty for almost any used car, even cars over 100,000 miles, but you just need to follow some guidelines for them to cover it.

Check out consumerguide.org for information on "best buys" in terms of used cars.

Okay, I've been lookin everywhere for the imports and the only ones that I find are out of my budget. So I have found some Ford Torasses.
They are a '96 wagon and a '97 sedan.
My question...the are both 3.0L engines, is that a good/bad thing? My old mans '96 was a 24 or 32 valve engine that was diffrent than these so I'm winding off the path of getting a car that was just like his, he never put any money into his and he gave it to my sister with over 200k on it!
JUNK! You're likely to have some hefty repair bills. And they're ugly as ****, too. Just keep the Escort (as long as it's mechanically sound). Just because your fiance hates it, that's no reason to get rid of it. Believe me, a two door is going to be just fine. And besides, kids grow up so fast that before you know it, he/she will be out of the rear-facing (one you carry) seat, and in one that's permanently (well, pretty much) strapped in. This only takes about a year.

Seriously, give it up. There's no way you 're going to find a great car for $2,500, and I think buying american is a mistake (at least, in that price range). Save the money. Believe me, you'll need it.

Okay, after reading numerous negative reviews...torass is out.
How bout a '92 Lexus ES300 with 137k?
I also found a '92 integra G20 and '94 Maxima...but I'm liking the reviews of the Lexus.

Madgreek, I'm keepin the escort, and this car will hopefully last us at least three years so I'm just trying to find one that fits and will last. Trust me, if you had to listen to her...you'd be lookin too LOL.

Okay...after a half day of test driving numerous cars yesterday, we have a new (to me) car in our driveway. It blows cold air and it has four doors. A good lookin SL2, for $1500 with 130k on it. It runs great and drive just as good. I do expect to see some work ahead of me but from what I've read in recent reviews, there shouldn't be too many serious failures to worry about. I'm gonna change the coolant temp sensor because it sounds like that goes bad in turn keeping the cooling fan off then in turn overheating the engine...not too bad.

I was only able to find one honda the whole day and that was a '92 Accura that was spoken for. And my Fiancé wanted us to get a '98 Hyundai that made a lot of engine noise and was of even worse quality than the Saturn...(hard to believe possible). Oh yeah...that Lexus that I mentioned was also spoken for when I called on it.

So who knows anything about Saturns (other than they suck) that could help me out? Like I said it's a 1997 SL with a 1.9L and an automatic transmission.

Does it have the lame spoiler? My friend from college has one, same year and everything, I think I scanned his ECU and found an error code for the coolant temp. sender. Other than that, I don't think it has too many problems besides regular maintenance, which is surprising for an American car. I wouldn't buy an old Honda anymore unless I was planning on overhauling the drivetrain, they have had so many young punks doggin the **** outa them.

LOL, no spoiler on this gold colored tan interior mommy car. It does have some preformance switch by the floor shifter.

not bad of a car with a little tlc.My ex drove one till it had 232k miles on it with little upkeep.

Change the switch, install a water pump(known to go bad),a good tune up (factory parts are best),change the oil and tranny fluid(no tranny flush because it can actually kill the tranny on something that high of mileage).ANd it should be good for a while.
