Default Powered Subwoofers?

I was just curious what any of you are using for powered home theater subwoofers. I'm looking to upgrade and thought I'd see others opinions and set up.

I had a sweet one that my roommate left at my old house when he moved out, it was like 15 years old at least and sounded amazing, plus it had left and right, in and OUT speakers wire jacks, so you didn't need an amp with sub out to use it, you just wired it up in line with your speakers. about a month ago i noticed it sounding ****ty so i pulled off the cloth front cover and found out that the rubber rim had torn (it was sold old it had just disintegrated) i am still thinking about resurrecting it because the amp and speaker cone are still fine, its just the rubber part that is too old.

most of my sterio equipment is ancent, I still have a machintosh amp and some old speakers that was my dads and is probably atleast 30 years old, the amp as so old it used tubs but it blew something a few years ago. the speakers are still working very well though and are hooked up to a 1000 watt amp I have along with 2 other crappy speakers that i got for free. (I don't run it full blast because it will kill them)

i have one too. must have for movie and game fans. most all will do. im not rich ether so i wouldn't buy anything over 300. they can get expensive its retarted tho. its a huge improvement over subs that have no built in amp.

wait for thex to post he will explain in detail.

I sell audio equipment for a living so I don't need it explained to me, just curious to see what people are using and how well they like them. I currently have a PBX 12 which is a nice entry level sub for an apartment or small room. I'm in the process of setting up a theater room in my new house and have done a lot of research and will probably end of going with Elemental Designs A5-350. For the money its just insane and hard to beat.

^there were more posts in this thread, but i think they got lost in the change over so it died.

my last roommate had a pretty sweet surround sound package that he bought to hook up to his TV, i think he spent like $500ish for a 7.1 set up including the amp and sub. It sounded amazing... when it worked, every so often it would just shut off and not want to turn back on for a while. I can not remember what brand it was, sorry :/
